How Kite Sizing Works

Rider Weight

Heavier riders need bigger kites to generate the same pull. Our calculator adjusts the recommendation proportionally to your body weight.

Wind Speed

Stronger wind means smaller kites. The relationship isn't linear — our lookup table accounts for diminishing returns at extreme wind speeds.

Riding Level

Beginners benefit from slightly smaller kites for better control and safety. Advanced and expert riders can go bigger for more power, jumps, and loops.

Riding Style

Wave riders prefer smaller, maneuverable kites. Foil riders use significantly smaller kites since hydrofoils generate lift at lower speeds.

This calculator provides estimates based on standard kite sizing charts. Actual performance varies by kite model, board type, and local conditions. Always consult with a certified instructor if you're unsure about equipment sizing.
